We were both on our way down to meet each other for a late-night drink in the lobby bar. She had just returned from the theater, where she was starring in Jane Wagner's The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe. Over a hot chocolate, a glass of champagne, and a cucumber sandwich, she talked about her early days as a stand-up. Or to be accurate, as Lily pointed out, "In real life I never was a stand- up, but I had the guts to stand up (alone) for some reason." The next time I saw Lily was in MENU
